A real life HUI Case Study!

A Fortune 500 company partnered with HUI to introduce a new medical device to their market.

The Challenge

  • Partner with their product development firm, an electronics supplier as well as two of the customer’s divisions.
  • Complete the proof of concept phase of the cart (from industrial design through prototype) within 9 weeks for a presentation at the organization’s Investors Conference.
  • Ensure the cart and device presented a unified brand image (color, styling, etc) with the other components of the other devices within the system and the other product families within the company.
  • Make the device compact and portable.
  • Enable the portability of the device in and out of external transportation.

Obstacles Encountered

  • Design changes from various inputs were changing up until the last moment.
  • Partners were all located in different parts of the country.

Solutions Provided

  • Delivery of a functional cart prototype within 9 week timeframe.
  • Manufacturability input and direction were provided by HUI through engineering models and rapid prototyping allowing an actual functional prototype.
  • Flexibility and rapid response (within hours) by the HUI team members were given to last minute design input changes.
  • Cross-functional team at HUI integrated with all partners through weekly and sometimes daily meetings which enabled our customer a successful presentation at the organizations Inventors Conference!
